Here's what Diner Seoul is doing that most of the St. Clair West corridor isn't: applying genuine fine-dining pedigree to the kind of food you actually want on a Tuesday at 7pm for under fifteen bucks a plate. Daniel Yoon spent time as a sous chef at Aloette — one of Toronto's more technically rigorous kitchens — and he and his wife Anna have channeled that background into something that reads as a casual neighbourhood spot but reportedly cooks like it has something to prove. Open since January 2024, the room is understated in the right ways: dried flowers, art on the walls, unhurried. The kind of place designed for people who want real craft without having to perform appreciation for it. The menu centers on Korean comfort food with French technique quietly doing structural work underneath, and the three anchor dishes at $12.95 each tell that story clearly. The Bulgogi Burger — available as a double, which by all accounts is the call if you have any appetite at all — is built around bulgogi aioli, pickled onions, and cheddar, a combination diners consistently describe as layered rather than just sauced. The Spicy & Sweet KFC Platter pairs a gochujang-coated chicken with pickled fennel, a pairing that reportedly keeps the heat from going one-note in a way that ranch dressing alone never manages.
