Season to Taste has one of the more interesting origin stories in Cambridge dining — it launched in 2016 as The Table at Season to Taste, a prix fixe concept from chef Carl Dooley that picked up Beard recognition and stacked Best of Boston rankings over four years. When COVID closed it in 2020, chef-owner Robert Harris — Alabama-raised, Commander's Palace-trained — quietly rebuilt it into something looser and more personal: a neighborhood cocktail bar with a real kitchen behind it, the kind of place that grew up in New Orleans and moved north. The current format is deliberately approachable, anchored at an L-shaped bar with 10–12 seats and an open kitchen visible from the room, dark wood against white tile under warm lighting. It sits on Mass Ave in Cambridge, which is about as far from precious as a prix fixe pedigree usually gets. The menu rotates every six weeks, so Harris and chef Sam Day are never coasting.
