The structure is the 'choose your own adventure' tasting menu, which means the room is built around abundance rather than restraint — fluffy pita straight from the open kitchen, a spread of salatim that arrives in earnest. Does it earn the cheque? On the strength of Zachary Engel's James Beard pedigree and the Michelin star held, plus Jean Banchet Restaurant of the Year 2024, the credentials are real and not borrowed. Bubbe's Brisket Hummus is the dish people return for — smoky cinnamon, braised carrots, two generous pita. The Iraqi kubbeh halab, a day-one fixture, justifies its permanence. The Lincoln Avenue room — exposed brick, wooden tables, framed photographs — reads warm rather than ceremonial, which suits the share-the-table format.
