Findlay Creek doesn't lack for takeout, but BVR No. 2 has quietly become the kind of room you return to on a Tuesday without thinking about it. This is the second address for a Vietnamese kitchen that's been at it, and the confidence shows. The pho is the reason to come: broth simmered long enough to carry real depth, brightened by fresh herbs at the table. The bun bo hue arrives properly assertive, lemongrass and heat doing their work rather than hiding. Banh mi holds its own for a quick lunch, and the kitchen dips into Thai territory too—the pad thai comes out fast, generous with chicken and decent shrimp, which tells you the line knows its rhythm. It's a casual, unfussy space on Shuttleworth, moderately priced, no ceremony. There's bubble tea if the kids need convincing. What I like is the lack of pretense: fair prices, genuine flavors, a neighborhood spot that behaves like one. Come hungry for a bowl of pho and you'll understand why the regulars keep the door swinging.
