On a busy stretch of Somerset in Chinatown, Daldongnae runs a tighter operation than most of Ottawa's Korean BBQ rooms, and it shows. The space is genuinely roomy—a rarity here, where KBBQ usually means elbowing strangers over a shared grill. Bring a crowd; the tables handle groups without the usual squeeze, and each one gets its own grill so nobody's fighting over the good char. The move is the marinated pork shoulder, though the thick-cut pork belly and the beef short ribs earn their keep too. Every table BBQ order arrives with the supporting cast that makes the format worthwhile: egg, corn cheese, lettuce, five banchan, and a soybean stew. If you'd rather not grill, the bibimbap and seafood pancake hold their own. At roughly $20–30 a head, it's fair value, especially given the premium cuts. Two things to know: there's a two-serving minimum to fire up the grill, and reservations aren't optional—this place packs out. It's a chain, ByWard has a sibling, but the Somerset room earns its regulars.
