The name is French, the address is South Vancouver, and the menu reads like it was assembled by someone who cooked seriously in more than one country and felt no obligation to footnote it. This is not fusion in the apologetic, hedge-everything sense — it's a price-level-one room that treats genre as a suggestion, and from what diners consistently report, it gets away with it. The crowd tracks as true neighborhood: multigenerational families, off-shift workers, regulars who have a usual without anyone ever telling them to get one. The kitchen's signature move is the karaage technique, applied to two very different proteins. The chicken karaage is the anchor of the menu — reportedly known for a fry that holds up rather than going soft on the table, which at this price point is not a given. The octopus karaage is the more interesting argument: diners describe the contrast between the exterior crackle and the yielding, briny center as the reason the kitchen bothers committing to the method at all.
