Chef Taeshik Kim's philosophy traces directly to watching his mother operate a soft tofu restaurant — the idea that a bowl of food can do the work of comfort and connection. That's not marketing copy; it's the through-line connecting every item on the menu. The fact that the owner also runs Sushi Bar Shu, a well-regarded omakase spot two blocks away, tells you something about the level of intention behind what looks, by design, like a simple neighbourhood place. The menu centers on sot bap — rice cooked and served in a hot stone bowl — and each order is prepared in individual pressurized rice cookers, a kitchen setup distinctive enough that staff walk you through it. The Flying Fish Roe Sot Bap is the dish diners and local food writers consistently single out: raw tobiko layered with pickled radish, buttery scrambled eggs, pyogo mushrooms, seaweed, and a house aioli.
