When Chef Juraj Dado, previously Head Chef at the legendary Bishops Restaurant, took the kitchen reins in August 2020 and then bought the whole operation in October 2023, it was a signal that this place wasn't coasting on longevity. Dado brought a distinctly European sensibility to a menu that already leaned toward special-occasion cooking, and the result is a neighbourhood restaurant that operates with considerably more ambition than its Port Moody address might suggest. The arts-and-crafts dining room — Christmas decorations up year-round, patio strung with warm lighting — is deliberately eccentric, the kind of room that feels like it belongs to its owners rather than to a brand. The menu centers on refined proteins handled with classical technique. The Filet Mignon (CA$57.95) is grilled AAA tenderloin paired with pomme Anna, wild mushrooms, roasted parsnip, and a red wine reduction — a plate that signals Dado's Bishops pedigree without apology. The Rack of Lamb (CA$55.95) is marinated in rosemary and mint and served with creamy mashed potatoes and a minted pea puree, a combination that reads as straightforwardly European bistro but is executed with the kind of care that keeps regulars returning. For pasta, the Lobster Orecchiette (CA$38.95) — tossed in a piquant rustic tomato sauce — is the kitchen's more casual flex, and diners consistently point to the seared scallops and the pork roast tomahawk as the other dishes that define what Dado's kitchen is doing. If you want the most immersive version of this kitchen, Dado runs a Chef's Table: an intimate, small-group, 10-course format that lets him cook without the constraints of the à la carte menu. Book that well in advance. For the regular dining room, the patio is the move in summer — the lighting makes it one of the better outdoor rooms on the eastern end of the Inlet.
