Tiki bars usually fall into one of two camps: serious cocktails with sad food, or kitschy rooms where nobody's really cooking. Wusong Road, tucked inside the 100-year-old Conductor's Building in Harvard Square, refuses to pick a lane. Chef Jason Doo — Cambridge native, raised in his family's American-Chinese spot in Malden — built a place that's equal parts immersive fantasy and actual kitchen. We're talking a Bali temple replica at the second-floor doorway, basket lamps, monkeys, the works, plus a menu that earns its keep. Get the crab Rangoon (billed as Boston's best, $14), the Wusong Bao ($15), and the coconut ribs with caramelized lime, which regulars rightly won't shut up about. Prices hover around $14–16 a plate, so order a few and share — that's the point. The cocktail program is the headliner: the Mai Tai gets called the city's best, and the Zombie does exactly what a Zombie should. Minority and LGBTQ+ owned, and one of the rare tiki rooms where the food keeps pace with the rum. Book ahead; it's a 90-minute table.
