The co-owner of Bar Ocelli trained at London's Beaufort Bar and Artesian — two of the most technically precise cocktail programs in the world, both recognized repeatedly at the Spirited Awards — and the Ottawa room reflects that lineage without imitating it. The 2025 Spirited Awards named Bar Ocelli a honoree for Best New International Cocktail Bar in Canada, which is the kind of recognition that arrives only when the program behind it has genuinely earned it.
The twelve seasonal signatures are built with a specificity that rewards attention: a cocktail here is not assembled from a recipe but constructed from an idea, with each component chosen for what it contributes to the whole. The five classics are executed with the same discipline — a Daiquiri or a Martini ordered here will be made by someone who has thought about what those drinks should actually taste like.
The room is polished and moody, designed for sitting slowly rather than cycling through. The William Street location puts it in the ByWard Market corridor without the noise or the tourist traffic of the main market drag. One of the few Ottawa bars that belongs in a national conversation.
