Siblings Eric, Sarena, and Jamie Siu named the place after their mother and opened it inside a 1904 home on Main Street that their grandparents have owned since the early 1950s. Eric designed the interior to echo the Mid-Century aesthetics of his grandparents' upstairs apartment — Cantonese vintage layered into the bones of a century-old house — and the entire menu is gluten-free, a decision born from lived experience with dietary restrictions rather than trend-chasing. What you get is a Hong Kong–inspired cafe that tastes like a family's full biography: the grandmother's Chinatown, the siblings' present-tense Vancouver, the deliberate choice to make it accessible. The crowd that finds this place tends to return with loyalty; it is not the kind of spot that opens coolly and loses its shape. The menu is weekend-only — Fridays through Sundays, 10am to 6pm — which makes the selection feel considered rather than casual. The Pineapple Coconut Cookie draws consistent attention: it carries the custardy top of a classic pineapple bun with a buttery coconut filling inside, gluten-free without announcing itself as a compromise.
